Scrambled cities: If you're not gonna do the work(on your soul), then you might as well work til you die

There are two tiers in normal life. Those who are survive and those who thrive.  But nothing is a mistake in life: Nothing comes by chance. You have to prepare for it.  If you thought life was about making money and beating out the Jones's, you've lost already.  Life is: Desire for connection. All unhealthy competition is isolating. We live in an isolated-enough world already. This connection comes from a surprising place: Self-acceptance. A lot of us need to go back to the classroom. A lot of us need to take a silent breather and check in with what we need. This takes serious work. It's the real work. It relies on respect for others and self-respect.  A lot of people in the self-help community try to push the self aside: Manning up is the only side of it they see. But there are certain non-negotiables in this life. Certain things we can't cheat ourselves out of. We are not a piece of meat being acted on.    However, this is where God comes in. Some o...

Getting the best deal for your cow

We are all taking our cow to the market place some day, and when that cow get slaughtered, the gig is up, we've fallen in love.

You can't really argue with love. Love is a doe-eyed cow. Once he's been taken to market he gets corralled into the slaughterhouse. The only difference is that in real life, a cow has some reluctancy. In love, it is as if we were possessed by an idiot.

It is only once time has passed that we realize what we have lost. In losing a relationship, we see all the shortcomings of it. We realize that we've wasted years of our lives. God save those who are out of a 15 year or longer relationship. I think that must be a kind of hell.

That we need love is one thing. No one denies it, but that we need to fall for a bad deal again is the unnecessary part. That is why we need to make sure our inner cow has a high price when we need to send it to the slaughterhouse.

Relationships take a lot of self-sacrifice, and in the end they may not be worth it, so make sure you fetch a good price for your cow. Make sure that you don't lose all your strength to someone who doesn't appreciate it.
