Failing to write is failing to talk with yourself

When all the chips are down and you're totally alone in the world, writing is the last bastion of sacred hope; writing and prayer, but writing serves a different function. Whoever ignores the rite of communicating with themselves also passes a silent judgment over themselves.

Sometimes we cast around and look for the greatness in the world outside. This world with all its apathy is not moved by our need for validation though. In fact, the exact opposite occurs when we seek out such a thing. We tend to find that the proud are seeking more reason to be proud. Those holding on are often left behind. This is the way of things almost as a mathematical principle.

Look around you. Have you found people who you didn't know from a bar of soap who are interested; and I mean deeply interested in your story? As you grow older and less attractive, the answer is probably no. The answer is probably that like everyone else, you also don't care about someone who's barely hanging on by a thread that you don't know. We are all quite self-serving.

And this statement is quite discrete from any kinds of value judgments. You do not wish to surround yourself with weakness, and there is a purpose to this. If you are an enemy unto yourself, you are probably no good to others. If you are continually and chronically on the back foot, something has gone wrong with your connection with God and with yourself.

The soul is the site of God's meeting with you. If you are not wholesome within, you cannot be a good place for meeting with God. If you are impure within, you are not inviting in the presence of God, and as a result, you are of no value to yourself.

This is why the best bet a perpetual mess of a person has is to be a better friend of God, and a better example to themselves. Are you being a good example to yourself? Can you agree on what is required of yourself? Is your life a continual mess of inconsistencies? Then I say to you that it's time you took counsel with yourself and made yourself right so that God can enter your life again.

If you are unable to talk with yourself then you hiding from your life in vain. Clean up what good things remain in your life so that you can seek out the greatness of God and that He can move in a powerful way. Put away the lust of the flesh which is merely a method of seeking satisfaction outside of the soul, and bring your soul to be watered by the Word of God.
